Team to Race at Miami Grand Prix This Weekend
Mundelein, IL – Newman Wachs Racing and the Nuclear Clean Air Energy race car
will be back on track this weekend for Saturday’s Grand Prix of Miami when
drivers John Edwards and Adam Christodoulou take the green flag in their first
race of the 2010 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car season.
The race takes the green flag at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday and will air LIVE on
the Speed Channel. Qualifying will be streamed live on SPEEDtv.com beginning at
3:40 p.m. ET Friday.
The Nuclear Clean Air Energy car won the 2009 Atlantic Championship series
and now moves up with Mazda sponsorship to the GRAND-AM Rolex Series that is
owned and supported by NASCAR. The series, in its 10th year, races on some of
the largest venues in the U.S. including the Daytona Speedway and Watkins Glen
International in New York.
“It is exciting to move up to the Grand Am series as we start the next
chapter of championship racing for our team,” said Eddie Wachs, owner of the
Newman Wachs racing team. “National visibility for our cause and our sponsors
has taken a big leap forward on this sports car circuit.”
The Nuclear Clean Air Energy car carries sponsorship from Entergy, the second
largest nuclear power fleet in the United States. They operate or provide
management services for 12 nuclear reactors in 10 locations in the Southern,
Northeastern and Midwestern regions. Entergy has stepped to the fore as an
industry voice promoting nuclear as “green” to broad national audiences while
using the sponsorship to assist in recruiting top-talent to the company.
2010 marks the third year of the Entergy sponsorship of a Nuclear Clean Air
Energy car with the Newman Wachs team. The GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series was
acquired by NASCAR Holdings in 2008 and is televised LIVE on SPEED television
through the 2010 season.
Entergy Corporation is an integrated energy company engaged primarily
in electric power production and retail distribution operations. Entergy owns
and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric
generating capacity, has annual revenues of more than $10 billion and
