Michael Perito, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer - FitzPatrick, Pilgrim, Vermont Yankee

Michael Perito was named senior vice president and chief operating officer for Entergy Nuclear’s FitzPatrick, Pilgrim and Vermont Yankee Stations, effective February 4, 2013. Prior to that announcement, Perito served as site vice president of operations at Entergy's Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Port Gibson, MS. He came to Grand Gulf in March 2011, from River Bend Station in St. Francisville, LA, where he had been site vice president of operations since January 2008.

Perito, a mechanical engineer, began his career at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a lead project engineer for naval nuclear propulsion plants. In 1985, he began working for Boston Edison Company and progressed in engineering and operations management roles at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth, Mass.

In 1997, Perito went to work for Carolina Power & Light Company in Moncure, N.C. as plant manager of a fossil-fuel generating plant.  In 2001, he became operations manager at Exelon Corporation’s Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station in Cordova, Ill. Perito held that position until 2006, when he became plant general manager at the three-unit Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, in Tonopah, Ariz.

Perito is a 1978 graduate of Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering. He was also an NRC-licensed senior reactor operator.
